Got Questions?: Demons

As we continue our "Got Questions?" series, Week 4 dives into a topic that can feel uncomfortable yet is vital for every believer: demons. Are they real? What do they do? And how should we, as followers of Christ, respond to their influence in our lives?

Demons are not mythical creatures; they are fallen angels, led by Satan, whose ultimate goal is to destroy all that is good and holy. Their tactics are subtle but destructive: they deceive, divide, and distort the truth. Whether through lies, mental anguish, or even causing division in relationships, demons are active in trying to pull people away from God’s truth and purpose. The apostle Peter warns us to be watchful, as Satan "prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour" (1 Peter 5:8).

In this week's sermon, we explore how to recognize these spiritual enemies and the primary tactics they use—from spreading lies and creating confusion to sowing division and fear. The Bible tells us to resist these forces with the power of God’s truth, standing firm in our faith. But we are not left to fight alone. Christ has already triumphed over them, and we can find the strength to overcome any spiritual attack in Him.

One of the most important points we explore is how we should respond to demonic influence. While we should never underestimate the enemy's power, we must also remember that we have divine power in Christ to tear down strongholds. We are called to P.R.A.Y. — Power up (through prayer and the armor of God), Resist (the devil’s lies and temptations), Avoid (spiritual practices outside of Christ), and Yield (to the Holy Spirit’s guidance). Prayer is our first line of defense, and it’s in prayer that we find our strength.

But how will it all end? The Bible is clear: God will defeat the enemy. No weapon formed against us will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and in the end, demons will be vanquished once and for all.

Watch the full sermon to learn how to protect ourselves from demonic influence and live in victory. It will equip you to stand strong in the spiritual battles that we all face. You can follow along with this week’s sermon notes here.

We invite you to return next week as we wrap up our “Got Questions?” series with a message on the Second Coming. You can check out or catch up on the entire series here. Know someone who could use some encouragement? Make sure to share this sermon with them!
