You sit enthroned in the heavens, unmoved as nations rage, peoples plot, and rulers set themselves against you. You have declared your king on Zion, granting him the nations as his inheritance, and all authority in heaven and on earth.
On this election day, we come before you on behalf of our nation, the United States, a land founded by your will, illuminated by your truth as no other, yet now distant from you.
We confess that we have not humbled ourselves nor sought your face, nor turned from our wicked ways. We have shed innocent blood, cast your name from public life, and indulged our lusts to overflowing.
Professing wisdom, we have embraced foolishness, exchanged your truth for lies, and worshiped creation over the creator. We have surrendered ourselves to dishonorable passions, filling our cup with sin.
Destruction looms. Enemies who scorn your church and spill innocent blood gather at the gates, and the walls of our defense are in ruins.
But on this day we your people plead for mercy. We cry out for salvation. Grant us time to witness a rebirth of righteousness, that we may seek you once again.
We pray that your people would show up and vote, in accordance with your word, not the spirit of the age.
We ask for a free and fair election, that all attempts at interference and fraud would be uncovered and thwarted.
We pray for peace, whatever the outcome, that we may live quiet and godly lives marked by holiness.
Unashamedly, we pray that Donald Trump would be elected president as the candidate who better aligns with your vision for governance.
And we pray that your will would prevail in the election of our Senators and Representatives, and state and local officials.
For all those elected, we pray for their eternal salvation, sanctification, and that they would rule with the wisdom and justice of the Most High, faithfully serving the people committed to their charge.
Above all, we ask for the repentance and salvation of our nation, that we would again revere your holy name, that our public servants would bow before you, and that this nation would serve you.
We ask all this in the name of the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ, whose government will forever increase and whose kingdom is without end.
Without wishing to sound picky, but I know it will ..... asserting > illuminated by your truth as no other Is not entirely accurate...... I would suggest that it is the Anglosphere which historically has been 'illuminated by your truth as no other'. At least in the last half millenium. It is the inheritors of the European and English reformation(s) whom have received perhaps the most light, mediated via the English language, and impacting all for whom it has been the mother tongue..... not only the settlers of New England ... but many other places too. :-)
