Trump And Joe Have A Chat

In a nearly three-hour interview with Joe Rogan, former President Donald Trump delved into various contentious issues.

Discussing what he considered his presidential missteps, notably appointing individuals he later deemed "bad people, or disloyal people," like John Bolton and John Kelly. He vehemently denied accusations of fascism, labeling Kelly a "bully" and questioning his integrity, and calling Bolton "a whack job.” 

The conversation also touched on Trump's repeated claims of the 2020 election being rigged, and his remarks on international affairs included his belief that conflicts like Ukraine would have been averted under his leadership.  

Trump also spoke about his alliance with RFK Jr, and the merging of MAGA and MAHA (Make America Healthy Again). 

Intended for simultaneous release on YouTube and Spotify, faced a brief delay due to technical issues, and Joe Rogan posted on X that this was the case rather than an attempt to censor it by either platform. 

One of the top moments came when Rogan explained to Trump why he got so much more publicity than other presidents, with Trump mentioning, “"I always got more publicity than other people. It wasn't like I was trying. I don't know exactly why, maybe you can tell me.” Rogan replied "Oh I can definitely tell you. You said a bunch a wild s**t.”

 

Harris CNN Town Hall Falls Flat

Kamala Harris's CNN town hall appearance was marked by what many observers described as a series of evasive and unsubstantive responses. Throughout the event, Harris frequently pivoted from substantive policy questions to criticize Donald Trump, labeling him as "dangerous" rather than addressing critical issues like inflation, border security, or detailed foreign policy plans. 

When asked about her weaknesses or specific legislative actions, her answers were criticized for being vague or overly general, often lacking in actionable plans.

When asked why she changed her tune on a border wall, something she once called ‘medieval’ she complained that Trump had built far to little of the wall, in spite of the fact that this failure was due to Democrats overwhelmingly opposing such a wall. 

She also doubled down on her plans to impose ‘price gouging’ legislation. 

Then when queried about one mistake she has learned from in life, Harris responded, “I mean, you know if you‘ve ever parented a child you know, you make lots of mistakes to, um, in my role as vice president, I mean, I‘ve probably worked very hard at making sure that I am well versed on issues.” (Harris has no children of her own, and married the father of her step-children when they were aged 15 and 20 years old.)

Even within CNN's analysis, commentators like Dana Bash noted the absence of specific answers, highlighting Harris's tendency to dodge direct questions with broad, non-committal statements.

Later in the week, Harris would go on to liken Trump to Adolf Hitler, just 48 hours after Barak Obama had bemoaned, “I don't understand how we got so toxic, so divided, so bitter.” Hmm. Yes a real mystery. 

Left-Wing Papers Decline To Endorse Kamala

The Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times have both decided not to endorse a presidential candidate for the 2024 election, marking a notable shift in their traditional practices:

The decision by The Washington Post was announced by its publisher, highlighting that this move is a return to not endorsing presidential candidates, a practice it followed in earlier years. This decision came with significant internal and external backlash. Notably, Jeff Bezos, the owner of The Washington Post, was reported to have influenced this decision, which led to the non-endorsement of an initially drafted endorsement for Vice President Kamala Harris. The backlash included resignations and criticism from prominent figures within and associated with the newspaper, pointing to concerns over the implications for democratic values and media independence.

Similarly, the LA Times also chose not to endorse a presidential candidate for 2024, which led to the resignation of its editorial page editor and other board members. This move was also influenced by the paper's owner, Patrick Soon-Shiong, who suggested presenting the pros and cons for readers to decide, indicating a shift towards providing information rather than making endorsements.

Tommy Robinson Arrested On Eve Of Huge Rally

Tommy Robinson was arrested once again under Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act 2000. This incident, viewed by many as a heavy-handed response, occurred just as he was set to lead what could have been the UK's largest right-leaning demonstration in decades. 

Kent Police said Tommy Robinson has also been charged under his real name of Stephen Yaxley-Lennon with allegedly refusing to provide his phone’s PIN to officers who had stopped and questioned him at the border in Folkestone in July. As such, the alleged offence under the Terrorism Act is not an accusation that he was planning an attack and relates solely to police powers to examine phones at ports as part of investigations.

Though Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, has not been charged with any offences relating to the riots in England this summer, he has been accused by critics of whipping up tensions during the summer’s riots. 

Robinson may be a divisive figure, but with behaviour like this from the British legal system, accusations of two-tier policing will doubtless continue.
