I’m not ME anymore: New in Christ

What does it mean to be truly new in Christ? In this week’s message, we continue our journey through the series I’m Not Me Anymore as we dive into the profound transformation that happens when we “put off” our old selves and “put on” the new in Christ.

In Ephesians 4:20-24, Paul emphasizes that our faith in Christ means we are no longer bound to the life we once lived. The "old man"—our former self—is corrupt, steeped in deceitful desires, and leads to destruction. But in Christ, we are called to be different. We are given the incredible opportunity to put on a new self, created after the likeness of God, clothed in true righteousness and holiness.

This week’s message challenges us to consider two pivotal actions that Paul highlights. First, we must "put off" the old self. This isn’t a light suggestion—it’s a call to a radical departure from the patterns, desires, and thinking that defined us before we knew Christ. The old life, no matter how comfortable or familiar, is futile and filled with things that lead to nothing. It’s a life driven by corrupt and deceitful desires, promising happiness but delivering emptiness.

Second, we are called to "put on" the new self. In Christ, we are given a new identity rooted in holiness and righteousness. This new life is not about perfection but transformation—a daily commitment to grow more like Christ. With this new identity comes the ability to think differently, love more deeply, and live with purpose and integrity.

If you’ve ever wondered how to truly live out this new identity in a world that constantly pulls you back toward the old, you won’t want to miss this message. Join us as we unpack the incredible power of being new in Christ and learn practical ways to live out this truth daily.

We’ve been journeying through Ephesians 4 to discover how we can truly become the church Jesus came to plant. You can follow along with this week’s sermon notes here.
