The Call to Christian Unity

Join us as we kick off our new series, Vintage Church, where we dive into Ephesians 4 to discover how we can truly become the church Jesus came to plant.

In the middle of his letter to the church in Ephesus, Paul shifts from discussing our calling—the Gospel and our new identity as children of God—to urging us to “walk in a manner worthy of the calling” (Ephesians 4:1). This transition marks a pivotal moment in Paul's message. He connects faith with practice and doctrine with duty, emphasizing that being a Christian is not just about what we believe but how we live. While chapters 1-3 of Ephesians focus on our calling, chapter 4 moves us to understand how we live out that calling—not through rules and laws, but through attitudes and heart postures transformed by Christ.

In this first week of the series, we focus on the first six verses of Ephesians 4, where Paul emphasizes the importance of unity in a healthy church body. We’ll explore the attributes necessary for achieving unity, how it is formed, and the fruits it produces.

Church, we are called to live the life of Christ! Paul begins by pointing us to the character of our Savior. He encourages us to actively reflect Jesus in our lives—bearing the fruit of the Spirit and striving for unity in His body.

Watch the first message in our Vintage Church series now and follow along with sermon notes here.

Unity in the Body of Christ.

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— 5one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
